The Leslie Frost Library provides facilities, resources, reference, research, and instructional services for approximately 2,800 students and faculty. The bilingual Glendon University College offers courses in the social sciences, humanities, and international relations and graduate programs such as French, Hispanic Studies, Public Affairs and Translation. Three full-time librarians and six full-time support staff are currently based in the Leslie Frost Library.

The chosen candidate will provide reference assistance to undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty virtually and in person; create and maintain web‑based resources for research and learning; provide information literacy instruction to library users individually and in groups; conduct research and assessment activities in the Libraries and elsewhere on campus; and develop new programs and services The librarian will liaise with faculty and academic units, and develop collections to support the programs and research of the Glendon campus. The successful candidate will participate in the shared decision-making of the Leslie Frost Library and will serve on collegial committees of the Libraries, Glendon campus, and of the University. Some evening and weekend work and travel between campuses is required.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
· An ALA-accredited MLIS or equivalent.
· Broad knowledge of the full range of information sources relevant to the social sciences, sciences and humanities including disciplines such as Drama Studies, English Studies, Environmental & Health Studies, Philosophy, Sociology, Spanish (Hispanic Studies) and Women's Studies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of social sciences and humanities databases.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both French and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent reference or research services.
  • Demonstrated expertise with online content management platforms such as WordPress or LibGuides.
  • A strong public service ethic and/or background.
  • Excellent advocacy, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Understanding of collection development and collection management practices and principles.

This is a continuing appointment with the designation of Assistant Librarian and appropriate for a librarian with a maximum of twelve years post-MLIS experience. Assistant Director for Scholarly Resources & Services, Interdisciplinary Studies

Colby College Libraries invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Scholarly Resources & Services (SRS), Interdisciplinary Studies Librarian. The Assistant Director leads a team of seven librarians whose primary mission is to support faculty and student research in an innovative teaching and learning environment. Dean of the Library

California State University San Marcos seeks an exceptional, visionary and resourceful individual with the qualifications and experience to serve as its Dean of the Library. The Dean will provide leadership to further the role of the Library as an essential component of the University’s academic mission. As part of a comprehensive university the Dean will lead the Library in its support of the academic development of students into life-long learners, where students are active participants in the learning process. The Dean of the Library will work with the librarians to establish partnerships across the University and within the community, as they contribute as faculty to the contemporary learning environment in higher education. The Dean of the Library is responsible for leadership, team-building, strategic planning, and management within the Library, and fosters collaboration and the creation of knowledge within the University community. In addition, the Dean of the Library provides leadership in creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce, and a curriculum that develops students’ intercultural competence.

The Dean of the Library reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and serves on the Academic Affairs Leadership Council, an advisory body to the Provost. The Dean leads a library faculty and staff of 40 and manages a budget of approximately $3.3 million. The Library Dean position is classified as Administrator IV in the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP) and serves at the pleasure of the President.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • ALA accredited master’s degree or its equivalent plus five years of progressively responsible administrative work experience in University libraries which includes a minimum of one year leading and/or supervising the work of others; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong record of educational and scholarly achievement.
  • Strong record of progressively responsible engagement in a professional association.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Work experience in public higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and experience in a collective bargaining environment and/or knowledge of the California State University policies and procedures.

Liaison Librarian for Life Sciences/Remove

Drexel University Libraries seeks an innovative librarian with demonstrated experience working with faculty and students in learning and research programs to serve as its Liaison Librarian for Life Sciences. This position provides an exciting opportunity to build partnerships and collaborations within the life sciences programs in two of Drexel’s dynamic academic units: the College of Arts & Sciences and the College of Medicine. Summary

The Liaison Librarian for Life Sciences serves as liaison between the University Libraries and the faculty, staff and students of the departments of Biology, Chemistry, and BEES (Biodiversity, Earth & Environmental Science) within the College of Arts & Sciences and the departments of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences & Professional Studies within the College of Medicine. The Liaison Librarian for Life Sciences is a member of a matrixed team of librarians who work in close partnership to develop, implement and assess instructional and research programs that advance Drexel’s educational and research mission.

The position will be primarily based at the WW Hagerty Library, with access to office hoteling on the University’s medical campuses. Liaison librarians are expected to contribute to the Libraries’ ongoing operations through participation in departmental planning and decision-making, and in implementation of library and departmental policies. Regular reporting of activities and appropriate statistics is required.

Librarians are encouraged to participate in university activities and initiatives. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Manager, Learning Engagement

The Drexel University Libraries seeks an energetic and innovative manager to successfully lead librarians and work with faculty to embed curricula and coursework with all aspects of information literacy and related lifelong learning skills.  Collaborating with other library and campus instructional experts, the manager will explore and strengthen applications of information and communication technologies for effective delivery of instructional support for online and face-to-face learning environments.  The manager will apply knowledge and experience in assessment to improve instruction and learners’ mastery of information literacy skills and competencies.  To evolve the Learning Engagement program, the manager will lead expansion of the Libraries’ knowledge of appropriate pedagogies for diverse learners and learning environments, instructional design and use of technology to meet these goals.  Review of applications will begin January 17, 2014.

Summary

The Manager, Learning Engagement, provides managerial leadership for the Drexel University Libraries’ program of instruction, which actively engages faculty, librarians and expert academic staff to develop students’ abilities to effectively discover and utilize information and data in their work.  This program supports the University’s mission of developing students who are self-directed, life-long learners.  The Libraries’ impact on student learning is framed by indicators of academic success including the Drexel Student Learning Priorities (DSLP) core competencies for Drexel graduates that include information literacy.  Specifically, the Learning Engagement program aims to enable learners to explore and develop superior levels of DSLP competencies to identify, evaluate and use authoritative information resources, and to facilitate faculty teaching.

Reporting to the Director of Academic Partnerships, the Manager supervises some and leads all liaison librarians involved in the Libraries’ program of Instruction. As a member of the Libraries’ Managerial Leadership Group, this Manager contributes to the ongoing operations of the Libraries through participation in strategic planning and divisional decision-making, and in implementation of library policies.  Accountability is regularly reported through program goal setting, fiscal and performance evaluation, and client-based satisfaction and outcomes assessment. Librarians are expected to be professionally active through participation in campus activities, external service, and/or publication and presentation. 

Library Academic Partnerships focuses on strengthening Drexel’s connections to scholarly communications. The division’s liaison librarians working within a matrixed organizational structure are responsible for coaching mastery of core literacy skills, fostering self-directed and life-long learning practices, designing technology-based teaching tools, providing consultation for scholarly engagement, and building collections and electronic resources for utilization within the Drexel University community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead innovative and coordinated program of instruction with primary focus on information literacy
  • Lead and coordinate librarians and other staff in support of instructional program
  • Collaborate with faculty and other instructional experts to promote, develop and embed information literacy in  the university curricula and student academic experiences

Director, Informatics for Research Engagement

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Dean of Libraries and working with librarians, system developers, researchers and faculty across campus, the Director is responsible for evolving and implementing a university-wide approach to data management and curation of digital content and leading the Libraries' staff and partnerships to provide service support for preservation and access to the University's research data, digital content, records and archives. Essential Functions:

The Director provides administrative leadership and coordination for effective systems, efficient workflow procedures for data and information preservation and organization, policies on rights and usage issues, and maintaining user-centric institutional repositories, regardless of format. The incumbent provides administrative leadership for the Libraries' programs of archival curation, digital content management, and research application and system design; as well as supervision for the program managers of the University Archives, Libraries' Institutional Repository and Discovery Systems. The Director provides leadership for the campus federated Digital@Drexel coalition of digital collection owners that work collaboratively to provide central access to these University's unique artifacts of research and teaching.

The incumbent works collaboratively with the Libraries' Directors for Service & Quality Improvement, Academic Partnerships, and Administrative Services, and as a member of the Libraries Strategic Leadership Group to ensure effective and efficient operations of the Libraries. Responsibilities: Seeking an innovative, energetic and service-oriented librarian to work in a collaborative, team oriented environment.
