Head, Educational Initiatives

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries invites applications for Head, Educational Initiatives.


The Head of Educational Initiatives coordinates and informs the efforts of liaison librarians as they find systematic ways to contribute to campus initiatives related to student learning. The successful candidate will apply theory and identify best practices from the scholarship of teaching and learning to create new programs and to work with liaisons to integrate information literacy learning outcomes into the undergraduate curriculum in a coherent way. The incumbent will initiate and maintain campus collaborations, coordinate professional development programs for liaison librarians and teaching faculty, and manage assigned faculty and staff members.


Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Education, responsibilities include: lead a team of an instruction design librarian, an undergraduate liaison librarian, and an instruction support technician, providing direction, mentorship, and supervision; plan, implement, and evaluate professional development for library faculty and staff related to teaching, learning and the assessment of student learning provided by the Libraries; collaborate with library staff and campus partners to develop and administer faculty development institutes and workshops that support implementation of campus-wide general education curriculum revisions and other strategic directions of the University Libraries; oversee assessment of information literacy initiatives; manage the Stuart & Flora Mason Library Peer Coach Program and the Lance & Elena Calvert Undergraduate Research Award; and assist the Associate Dean with development of division-wide initiatives, projects and services.
