REGULAR STAFF: CHIEF, PUBLIC SERVICES & BRANCH MANAGEMENT – HEADQUARTERS - Fulltime
 

Grade 24MA – 37.5 hours/week

Full Salary Range: $71,911 - $119,770

Excellent benefits package includes 4 weeks of annual leave, starting with first year of employment.


Responsibilities include: This is professional librarian and managerial work with responsibility for formulating, developing plans for, and fostering satisfaction of the Library's strategic directions through its public service units, for supervising the heads of the three administrative areas of branches throughout Anne Arundel County, and evaluating the performance of branch libraries in achieving the goals and objectives of the Library System. Work includes responsibility for guiding and supervising library programs, outreach, virtual, and community services, and collection management to fulfill the Library's strategic plan. Work further extends to the development of capital and operating budget requests, and physical plant planning and supervision. These responsibilities involve important obligations in representing the System before the Board of Trustees, funding agencies, and community groups. Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a Master's Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program plus considerable supervisory and administrative experience in planning and conducting public library services and programs.

Necessary Special Requirement: Ability to secure certification as a Professional Public Librarian in the State of Maryland within 120 days of appointment; ability to meet re-certification requirements by completing 90 hours of training every 5 years.
