Assistant/Associate Librarian (2 positions)

Grand Valley State University Libraries, a recipient of the 2012 Association of College and Research Libraries’ Excellence in Academic Libraries Award, seeks energetic and collegial applicants for two liaison librarian positions due to internal organization changes.  One position is located at Steelcase Library on GVSU’s Grand Rapids campus and will work with the School of Public and Non-Profit Administration and the School of Social Work.  The other position is located at Zumberge Library on GVSU’s Allendale campus, ten miles west of Grand Rapids, and will work with programs in the social sciences.  Both of these tenure-track positions are 12-month appointments and require an ALA-accredited MLIS, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and a strong commitment to public service.

Liaison librarians at GVSU provide library instruction, collection management, and outreach in their assigned areas.  They also offer consultation, and instruction services tailored to the needs of students and faculty in liaison departments. The successful candidate will contribute to the establishment of a library-wide scholarly communications program and assist in the development of instruction and liaison services. They will demonstrate a commitment to student success, an understanding of the GVSU campus mission and the ability to work collaboratively and independently within a dynamic team-based organization.

GVSU librarians are full members of the university faculty. They must possess the potential to fulfill the requirements for promotion and tenure, and are expected to engage in scholarship and professional development, service to the institution, and institutional governance.

Applications from entry-level candidates will be considered. Qualified applicants from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. Salary range is commensurate with experience. GVSU librarians enjoy a comprehensive benefit package, including support for professional development.

A complete position description, as well as required qualifications and application information, can be found at www.gvsujobs.org. Review of applications begins Monday, February 20, 2012. Grand Valley State University is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution.
