Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its diversity and student success. West Chester University of Pennsylvania invites applications for the tenure-track Special Collections Librarian position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2012.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibility for all aspects of Special Collections. Also responsible for providing general reference service on a regular schedule including evenings and weekends.  Serves as library coordinator to the History Department for the purposes of collection development, instruction and specialized reference. Additional responsibilities include pursuing scholarly activities and service to the department, college, university, and the profession.

Required Qualifications:
§  Masters degree from an ALA or equivalently accredited program in librarianship.
§  A minimum of two years experience in special collections in an academic library or research institution. 
§  A minimum of two years experience providing general academic reference and instruction services.
§  Familiarity with MARC-AMC cataloging and archival coding.
§  Demonstrated understanding of key issues and emerging trends and technologies in special collections.
§  Proven ability to work collaboratively to develop programs and exhibitions.
§  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
§  Evidence of participation in professional development activities. 

Preferred Qualifications: Certification or special training in archives or rare books; second graduate degree in a relevant discipline; evidence of success in fundraising or obtaining grants.

Finalists must successfully complete an interview process and a teaching demonstration.
