                                                  Director of Discovery and Access

The Library, Information, and Technology Services (LITS) division at Mount Holyoke College is looking for a collaborative and service-oriented colleague to join us in providing forward-looking library services.
The Discovery and Access (DnA) unit includes Access Services, Archives and Special Collections, and Library Technical Services and their experienced and committed managers, librarians, support staff, and student employees who manage the circulation, acquisitions, cataloging and processing, the archives and rare materials, e-resource access, library systems support, and resource sharing functions. DnA is one of five units within LITS; a responsive and changing, venerable-yet-hip organization that facilitates the creative use of information and technology for the Mount Holyoke College community. It supports the educational priorities of the College by providing instruction, materials, staff expertise and equipment to sustain learning, teaching, and research, and to advance the College’s mission.

Responsibilities: collaboratively leads, guides, and supports the staff in their work overseeing library systems and associated workflows that keep the collections vital and up to date;  providing general information services and research/curricular support for archival and special collections; gathering/analyzing data to better understand and map services and resources to meet users’ needs; guiding the Archives and Special Collections operations and supporting the print/digital archival collections and special collections; organizing/facilitating exhibit and programming that showcases the collections; and creating a welcoming environment in which a diverse population of students, faculty and staff can thrive.
Qualifications: ALA-accredited master's degree or relevant advanced degree required; significant record of successful leadership, managerial, strategic planning, and supervisory experience related to the position, preferably in an academic environment; current, innovative and successful experiences with a broad range of library access and technical services, archives and special collections, resource sharing, and online catalog, discovery , and other related systems; excellent oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently required.
