Associate University Librarian for Collection Services (AULCS)


The Northwestern University Library invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate University Librarian for Collection Services (AULCS). The University Library fosters an environment of intellectual and creative excellence and collaboration, and the library staff is committed to providing service excellence to the Northwestern University community and beyond. We seek a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join the organization's leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The AULCS provides leadership and direction for a major division of the Northwestern University Library, the units of which are engaged in acquisitions, cataloging, serials control, preservation, electronic resources management, collection analysis, digital library and digital repository development activities. Plans, manages, administers, and is accountable for use of the library’s materials budget. In collaboration with other key administrators, leads in the development and management of collections. Advises and assists the University Librarian in all aspects of library management and administration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  ALA accredited master's degree in library or information science; minimum seven years increasing responsibility in an academic or research library; demonstrated achievement in the management of technical services, collection development, and collections budget operations; excellent communication, interpersonal skills, leadership, and collaboration skills.
