DIRECTOR of LIBRARY SERVICES
Gloucester County, Virginia is seeking a dynamic team orientated leader with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Gloucester County is centrally located on the Eastern Seaboard with easy access to the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia’s Historic Triangle, and major cities, yet abounds with small town charm and hospitality, while offering a wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities. Our library system, an integral part of our rural community, serves an estimated population of 36,000 with a staff of 33 (including volunteers), collection of 99,000 items, and circulation of 227,000 in 3 locations (modern 24,000 sq. ft. main branch, satellite branch, and bookmobile). Director plans and directs all phases of library operation for the County, and serves as the County’s records manager. Work involves community relations, financial activities, staffing, program development, strategic planning, and grant administration. Qualifications: Requires MLS from ALA-accredited school; intermediate computer skills; and valid Virginia driver’s license. Also requires 6 to 8 years of progressively responsible public library experience including 3 years in a supervisory or management position; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
