*RESPONSIBILITIES:* As a member of the U.S. Government Information, Maps & GIS Services Team, the Government Information Librarian works under the direction of the Team Leader to oversee daily management of the Regional's depository collection, create and maintain departmental policies, and serve as liaison to the over sixty selectives in the FDLP Region (Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia). Provides leadership in identifying training needs and in developing appropriate peer training for UM staff in the area of U.S. government information. Has responsibility for the purchase of materials that support and complement the Depository collection. Provides leadership in providing reference and instruction services to the Libraries’ patrons in the use of U.S. government information and resources. Contributes to the Libraries’ general reference services by participating in chat, email, and daily, evening and weekend desk service. Supports the mission of the Libraries’ general instruction program by teaching information literacy classes offered to the University through User Education Services. *QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:* *Required:* Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Master's of Library or Information Science program. Minimum 2 years experience working with U.S. government documents in a Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) selective or Regional library. Knowledge of Federal government information in all formats. Familiarity with FDLP program guidelines. Demonstrated commitment to public service with an ability to work with the public in a dynamic multicultural environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to function independently and in a team, and to build and maintain relationships with our FDLP selectives. Aptitude for providing assistance to students, staff and faculty with diverse levels of technical skills and demonstrated abilities to work effectively and creatively with library staff and patrons. Demonstrated computer literacy skills including proficiency with MS Office, HTML and other web authoring tools. Able to meet promotion and permanent status requirements.

*Preferred:* Library reference experience. Professional library or information retrieval experience. Experience providing reference and instructional services and/or collection development and management in an academic or special library serving similar clientele. Evidence of leadership ability. Experience working in a team-based work environment. Position is appointed to Librarian Faculty Ranks as established by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents.
