Assistant Professor

Western Kentucky University seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Library Technical Services. This is a 10-month tenure-track faculty position. Anticipated starting date is August 17, 2009.

Responsibilities include: Original and complex copy cataloging and classification of monographs and continuing resources for Kentucky Library special collections; shared responsibility for foreign language materials and authority file maintenance; participation in special cataloging projects as needed.

Requirements: MLS from an ALA-accredited program with an undergraduate degree in social sciences; skill with current and developing cataloging and metadata rules and standards, LC subject headings and classification, authority control, and MARC formats through coursework or job experience; reading knowledge of a foreign language; working knowledge of OCLC and an integrated library system (VOYAGER preferred); ability to work within a team environment. Must be able to meet the promotion and tenure criteria of the department.
