Serials Management, Electronic Resources, Microforms Librarian

The College of William and Mary is looking for a dynamic, serials savvy individual to fill the position of Serials Management, Electronic Resources, and Microforms Librarian. This position is responsible for the management of standing orders, subscriptions, and back orders for serials in electronic, print, and microform formats. Other responsibilities include serials collection development; manages the electronic serials and databases control process; provides input in serials cataloging policies; manages the college’s commercial binding contract and oversees the binding operation of the main library; and manages the microform collections and equipment, plus provides patron assistance for microforms. Supervisory responsibilities include 3 FTE. The position is directly responsible to the Acquisitions Librarian.

Qualifications:

Required:

-- Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
-- Knowledge of and experience with print, electronic, and microform serials in an academic or larger public library
-- Experience with online integrated catalog and electronic journal list modules.
-- Experience with OCLC Connexion and working knowledge of national cataloging standards including MARC format, AACR2 and Library of Congress Subject Headings.
-- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a collaborative group effort.
-- Possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
-- Tolerance for ambiguity and the capacity to respond to organizational change.

Preferred:

-- Experience with Serials Solutions products.
-- Familiarity with link resolvers, OpenUrl applications, ERMs, and other library technologies related to e-resource management and access.
-- Experience with spreadsheets and databases.
-- Experience with serials collection development, more particularly conducting serials review in conjunction with faculty liaisons.
-- Knowledge of 1 or more foreign languages.
-- Experience with binding.
-- Knowledge of current trends in serials management and scholarly publishing.

This position is a 12-month professional faculty appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience and comes with comprehensive benefits.
