Digital Services Librarian

Oxford College of Emory University invites candidates to apply for the position of Digital Services Librarian. We seek an innovative individual with teaching, technology, and collaboration skills to participate as a member of the library leadership team in the development and delivery of innovative and quality services for Oxford College (www.emory.edu/OXFORD). The college, which provides a liberal arts intensive curriculum for the first two years of the Emory baccalaureate degree, is located 38 miles east of Atlanta on the original Emory campus in Oxford, Georgia.

Responsibilities:
The Digital Services Librarian will develop, market, and deliver a comprehensive suite of digital library services. The librarian will play an integral role in the Research Skills @ your library instructional program with the other librarians. To support the teaching, learning, and research of the community, the successful candidate will oversee development of innovative services and programs for students and faculty; assist with development of the library website; identify and analyze user requirements for systems and services; use knowledge of digital formats, current standards, human interface design, information search and retrieval protocols, and disciplinary trends to maintain and/or implement digital systems and repositories. The librarian in this position will provide reference services along with some scheduled night and weekend reference work. The individual will work with internal library teams, other College and University groups, and professional organizations.

Qualifications:
Required: a graduate degree in librarianship from an ALA-accredited institution; demonstrated effective teaching skills including proven abilities in designing and delivering discipline-related instructional sessions; knowledge of research methodology and experience in meeting the research needs of students and faculty; applied knowledge of emerging information technologies, including web-authoring tools and social networking software; self-motivation; flexibility; strong problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; initiative and ability to conceive and carry out projects on a deadline including the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and effectively respond to the needs of a campus community that makes heavy demands on library services; ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Preferred: Demonstrated understanding of the application of technology as it relates to scholarship, teaching and learning; demonstrated ability to analyze user requirements to deliver technology solutions; knowledge of metadata standards; experience with digital file formats and software; familiarity with trends and issues related to preservation of digital content.
