Associate Law Librarians (2 Positions)

The University of California, Irvine School of Law seeks two creative, knowledgeable, energetic, and user-centered law librarians to serve as the founding Associate Law Librarian for Public Services and Associate Law Librarian for Technical Services.

The University of California, Irvine School of Law is the first new law school to be established at a member institution of the Association of American Universities and a public university in California in half a century. The founding Associate Law Librarians will have the opportunity to participate in developing all aspects of the new library and in implementing our vision to create the ideal law school for the 21st century. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Library and Information Services, the Associate Law Librarians serve as part of the Law Library’s management team.

The University of California, Irvine School of Law will open its doors to its first class of approximately 60 students in August 2009. The founding team of faculty and administrative deans are now working to build a program of innovative delivery of legal education, emphasizing experiential learning, interdisciplinarity, and public service on a solid grounding of instruction in core methods of legal analysis.

The University of California, Irvine, is nestled in over 1,500 acres of coastal foothills, five miles from the Pacific Ocean, between San Diego and Los Angeles. Founded in 1965, UCI has had an extraordinarily rapid rise to distinction and is among the fastest-growing University of California campuses, with more than 28,000 undergraduate and graduate students and about 1,400 faculty members. Student enrollment is planned to reach 32,000 by 2014 accompanied by a proportional growth in faculty and staff.
