Cataloging & Metadata Librarian

Loyola Marymount University seeks a creative, flexible and collaborative Cataloging and Metadata Librarian. This position ensures that library resources are accessible to faculty, students, staff, and the public by means of a clear and consistent public catalog and classification order and metadata created for digital collections. The Cataloging and Metadata Librarian will participate in building a library collection, which supports the educational mission of the University.

Loyola Marymount, founded in 1911, is a comprehensive university in the mainstream of American Catholic higher education. We seek candidates who typically possess a Master’s degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association (A.L.A.). Minimum of three (3) years cataloging or metadata creation experience is required, with at least one (1) year professional-level cataloging or metadata creation experience (including internships). This cataloging and metadata experience encompasses knowledge of machine-readable cataloging formats, Anglo American cataloging rules, Library of Congress classification and Library of Congress subject headings. Familiarity with OCLC or other national bibliographic databases is needed, in addition to familiarity with INNOPAC or other integrated on-line library systems. Experience with one or more of the following metadata standards are a must: EAD, TEI, VRA Core, Dublin Core, RDF, CIDOC, or others. The successful candidate will have the ability to prioritize work, and communicate effectively with faculty, students, staff, and the public.
