Head, Instruction Department

The UNLV Libraries seeks an innovative and collaborative librarian to become the Head of its Instruction Department. The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to plan, develop, market and evaluate instruction activities offered by the Libraries and to contribute to building an environment that firmly places the Libraries at the center of student learning on campus. The Head of Instruction will provide leadership for the Libraries’ participation in campus education initiatives to ensure that the Libraries are partners in the ongoing development of programs and services, such as the assessment of student learning (e.g., iSkills), general education, writing across the curriculum, and the first-year experience, and are involved in campus conversations about the culture of teaching and learning. The Head of Instruction will participate directly in the development and provision of instruction activities, guide liaison librarians’ development of their classroom instruction and assignment design skills, and oversee the creation of instructional materials and services. He/she will serve as a liaison librarian in one or more subject areas and as a member of the reference desk service pool.
