Reference Librarian, University of Mississippi

The University of Mississippi Libraries seeks a creative and dynamic Reference Librarian to join a reference department delivering user-centered services to the university community.

Under the direction of the Head of Information, Outreach and Delivery Services, the successful candidate will:


- Provide in-person and virtual reference services at a general reference desk, some evening hours required.

Director of Technical Services

Head, Instruction Department

Information Management Specialist/Librarian

Overall Function:

3. Collection management

d. Provide support to program research associates, centralize resources, identify best sources

5. Search optimization
a. Optimize enterprise search through controlled vocabulary, ontology, related terms development

Qualifications/Requirements:
· MLS/MLIS degree from an accredited ALA institution
· Experience with taxonomy development. Familiarity with folksonomies and other meta data strategies
· Knowledge of standards, procedures and practices used for information lifecycle management
· Experience in the development, management and maintenance of policies
· Knowledge of records management and imaging systems
· Experience with enterprise content management systems, search engines and other relevant technical applications. Knowledge of Tower Trim Context a plus.

Science Librarian

Reporting to the Head of Science and Math Libraries, this position supports the education, outreach, reference, and collection management endeavors of the Geoscience, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics libraries/collections and relevant academic departments.

Position Description: Reporting to the Assistant Director for Collections and Outreach, the Clinical Education Librarian plans, promotes and provides information services that support the needs of residents and, to a lesser degree, faculty, researchers, staff and students, of the Carver College of Medicine and the affiliated hospital.

Women's Studies Librarian

RESPONSIBILITIES
Working directly with faculty and research scientists in the Women’s Studies Department and the Institute for Research on Women and Gender and under the direction of the Head of Reference and Instruction, the successful candidate will assume these responsibilities:

· Provide support to the Women’s Studies Department and to the Institute for Research on Women and Gender.
· Provide leadership for collection development in the interdisciplinary areas of women and gender studies, sexuality studies, and the intersection of gender, race, and sexuality.

· Collaborate on special projects, participating in long-term planning and service assessment, and serving on committees and task forces.

QUALIFICATIONS
· ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science, or an equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience in a discipline significantly engaged in examining critical issues in the area of gender studies.
· Subject knowledge of the methodologies, and information resources relevant to research and study around questions informing the lives of women, and issues related to gender and sexuality research across multiple disciplines.
· Knowledge of information tools and resources relevant to research in the humanities, social sciences, and medical fields.
· Experience and interest in the application of technology to research and teaching along with a strong commitment to public services to a diverse community.

Arts Liaison Librarian (Music, Art, & Design, Film)

Film & Video and Theater are in the Department of Communication, which partners with some of Atlanta’s most vibrant corporate and artistic organizations. Masters degrees are offered in Digital Imaging and a PhD is offered in Moving Image Studies.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate serves as liaison to assigned departments; meets regularly with members of the departments to provide information and instruction about library services, collections, and programs. The successful candidate will deliver quality, in-depth reference and consultation services in the designated subject areas; develop library collections in the assigned areas, including participation in the management of the library materials budget; promote the library and information literacy; and foster communication between the assigned departments and the library. Liaison librarians assist with the general reference service that includes desk and virtual reference hours and are responsible for occasional weekend and evening hours. As faculty members, liaison librarians serve on library and university committees and engage in scholarly activities.

Requirements
ALA-accredited MLS and relevant experience in one of the advertised subject areas. Familiarity with resources in a variety of formats, skill in use of technology and web based applications, and excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. PREFERRED: Master’s Degree in one of the advertised subject areas. Experience in Collection Development within one of the subject areas, especially music, is strongly preferred. Demonstrated interest in research and professional activities.

Salary and Rank
$42,800-$52,000 for 12 months commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. Appointment at a faculty rank, on a contract renewal basis.

Instructional Services Librarian

The Norris L. Brookens Library at the University of Illinois at Springfield seeks candidates for the position of Instructional Services Librarian. Under general guidance of the Chair of Library Instructional Services and working collaboratively with the other Instructional Services faculty, enhances teaching and learning for the students, faculty and staff of the University of Illinois at Springfield through the provision of reference, instruction, collection development, and other services to promote information literacy and lifelong learning. Also provides instructional support for the University of Illinois Global Campus. This position will be part of a group that plans, implements, and assesses library initiatives to provide excellent services for UIS students, faculty, and staff. He/She will be part of the library’s information literacy initiative, serve on library and university committees, and perform collection development activities in his/her assigned areas. Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in Library science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited school; three years post-MLS public service and instructional experience in an academic library.
