Two Public Services Positions

The Los Rios Community College District has two full-time, tenure-track Librarian (Public Services) positions, located at our American River and Sacramento City Colleges. The Los Rios Community College District is a two-year public college district serving the greater Sacramento region. Our district includes American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City colleges; major centers in Placerville, Davis, West Sacramento, downtown Sacramento, Natomas and Rancho Cordova; and special services for business and industry. We are currently for the Fall 2008 semester. The closing date to apply for these positions is 3/19/08.

Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Dean, Learning Resources, and in collaboration with the other librarians, the public services librarian shall provide reference and information services to students and staff; plan, develop and coordinate services to the Outreach Centers and Distance Education; provide library instruction in a variety of settings; maintain up-to-date instructional materials for library resources including print, electronic products, and on-line services; and select materials in subject areas for print and electronic collections. The public service librarian may instruct students in credit courses and may be involved in developing and maintaining web resources. The assignment may include day, evening, and weekend hours. In addition, the public services librarian shall serve on area, college, and district committees and assume other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:
Have a master's degree from an accredited institution in library science or library and information science completed by August 21, 2008; OR, hold a California Community College Instructor's Credential in Library Science; OR, the quivalent. Note: Applicants applying under the "equivalent" provision must provide details and explain how their academic preparation is the equivalent of the degrees listed above.

Salary:
This is a 164 days a year position. Salary varies from $43,976 to $72,907 annually, depending on degrees and experience.
