The University of Richmond (www.richmond.edu), a nationally ranked liberal arts university offering a unique combination of undergraduate and graduate programs through its schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, Leadership Studies, Law and Continuing Studies with approximately 3,000 undergraduate students is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Bibliographic and Digital Services (BDS).

Boatwright Memorial Library provides a user-centered, service-oriented program in instruction and reference services. We seek an enthusiastic and outgoing leader to provide direction and planning for the organization, facilitation, and overall success of digital resources management and locally created digital library collections. Leads staff of six librarians and support staff in providing the library with digital projects and services, collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, periodicals control services, and electronic resources. These operations involve acquisition and bibliographic control of resources in print, media, electronic, and digital formats. Position provides ongoing evaluation of these services; the development of new services; and the incorporation of new technologies.

Ideal candidates will have a MLS/MLIS from ALA-accredited program; Minimum 5 years experience with supervising full-time library staff; demonstrated in-depth knowledge of metadata schemas, digital repository architecture, digital object standards, formats, and technologies required; ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff and students; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; dedication to high-quality customer service; knowledge of best practices in acquisition and cataloging of library materials, serials management, and digital services; leadership skills confirmed by prior success in relevant project management.
